Raku
| These Raku pieces are made by Betty Printy and are rare works of art. Only these three pieces are presently available at books and more. | |
| Raku is an ancient technique originating in Japan along with the tea ceremony and influenced by Zen buddist philosophy. In Raku the pieces are removed with long tongs from a red hot kiln. The glowing pot is then rolled in various materials (sawdust, leaves, paper), thus changing the colour and the chemistry of the pot. (For display purposes only. Not for food use. Do not hold water. Have a rough exterior surface.) | |
